Kanye West pulled off the ultimate Valentines day gift for his wife Kim Kardashian and it involved legendary saxophonist Kenny G.
Kanye West pulled his plugs and was able to land world-renowned saxophonist Kenny G. in his living room playing for Kim Kardashian.
In an interview with Rolling Stone, Kenny shared how it all went down! He shares that everything happened at the last minute and it just so happened that he was in town.
“Really late [Wednesday] night I got a couple of emails, one from a publicist that knows Kanye’s manager,” the musician said. “He told me that Kanye had requested me to come to the house and serenade Kim in the morning: ‘It’s going to be a room surrounded with roses, and you’re going to stand in the middle of the roses and play.’ I thought, ‘That actually sounds really beautiful.’”
“I didn’t get the message until, like, 11 o’clock at night. It just happened to work out, ‘cause I’m in town and I don’t live very far from where they live. So it worked out really well.”
Kim shared the video of Kenny on her twitter saying;
“NO BIG DEAL KENNY G IN MY LIVING ROOM!!!”
Kenny G responded to Kardashian West, writing,
“Thanks for having me be a part of your Valentine’s Day.”
Kenny was standing in the middle of a room filled with roses in individual vases which cost well over $2,000. Not to mention, Kenny’s fee for booking is roughly $150,000, according to Booking Entertainment.
“Once I got to the house, I was just warming up in a room, and then Kanye came in,” the musician said.
“He could not have been nicer. He was so warm and accommodating. Just chit-chatting about music. It was super cool.”
Kenny shares the moment Kim came in the room saying;
“She was coming around a corner, and I got the nod from Kanye to go. And so I started to play and when she came, she just went, ‘Oh my god,’ and then she looked at me and was smiling and just kind of stopped. She didn’t know what to do with herself for a minute. Then she got her phone out, which was awesome.”
As for Kanye and Kenny possibly collaborating, Kenny says that he told Mr. West,
‘This kind of sound would be really great with some of your music.’ And he said, ‘Yeah, maybe we can go to the studio and check it out.’”
“Maybe there’s a possibility of a little sax on a Kanye West record,” he added.
