The news shocked the world as many expected her to serve years in prison before she would be released. Just a month ago the state’s supreme court ruled she would have to remain behind bars for at least 51 years. Many people around the county including celebrities like Kim Kardashian, Rihanna and Amy Schumer pushed for her sentenced to reduce or pardon.

Brown got just that on Monday and many people have been celebrating all day. Kim Kardashian took to social media to share her excitement. She wrote of Twitter,

“Thank you, Governor Haslam,” Kim wrote on twitter adding 6 hands clapping emojis.

Brown even related a statement to thank everyone for their love and major support:

“I am thankful to my lawyers and their staffs, and all the others who, for the last decade have freely given their time and expertise to help me get to this day. I love all of you and will be forever grateful.”

She added,

“With God’s help, I am committed to living the rest of my life helping others, especially young people. My hope is to help other young girls avoid ending up where I have been.”
