Lil Nas X has partnered up with jeans company Wrangler and is receiving some major backlash!
He’s got the horses in the back, but he’s now also got the critics on his back after the Wrangler x Lil Nas X’ Scollection was released.
Jeans apparel company Wrangler was impressed with Lil Nas X’s hit country song “Old Town Road.” So much so they took the popular line “Cowboy hat from Gucci/ Wrangler on my booty/ Can’t nobody tell me nothin'” and literally put Wrangler on his booty.
Wrangler took to their Instagram account to announce the collaboration saying;
However, as catchy as the collaboration may be, some are not here for it and have called it “cowboy cultural appropriation” and have even called for a boycott of the brand.
“This makes me not want to buy wrangler jeans anymore tbh, the cowboy spirit is nothing to be made fun of,” one Twitter user said
While another said;
“Wow what a bunch of sells out…Keep taking the cowboy outta country.”
Wrangler did release a statement saying;
“We have a long history of using the platform of popular music to embrace a new generation of fans, while staying true to our Western heritage. We believe the cowboy spirit is about having courage, independence and confidence, which are the same qualities encapsulated in this limited-run, one-of-a-kind collection.”
While Naz X made light of the situation tweeting;
y’all really boycotting wrangler?? is it that deep 🧐

As of now, Nas X is still trying to get his name and his music to be more respected by the country community!
