Lori Loughlin and 15 Others Face New Charges in College Admissions Scandal

As we previously reported, Loughlin and Giannulli were charged last month with conspiracy to commit mail fraud for allegedly paying bribes which totaled up to $500,000 to help their two daughters get into the University of Southern California. The new indictment adds a charge of money laundering against the couple and 14 other defendants accused in the scheme.

It was also said the second indictment charges the defendants with “conspiring to launder the bribes and other payments” through mastermind William “Rick” Singer’s fake charity “as well as by transferring money into the United States, from outside the United States, for the purpose of promoting the fraud scheme.” The money laundering charge alone carries a maximum of 20 years in prison.

On Monday, Felicity Huffman — along with 14 other defendants made a deal and plead guilty to her one fraud charge and she issued a long apology. It appears that prosecutors are now putting pressure on the rest of the defendants to do the same or potentially face further charges.
