Man Arrested After Throwing Lit Firecrackers Under Sleeping Child’s Bed

A Florida man was arrested after he threw lit firecrackers under a sleeping child’s bed as a prank.

According to ABC Action News, 44-year-old Matthew Morrison of Okaloosa County was arrested on multiple charges after he snuck into a sleeping child’s bedroom and threw lit firecrackers as a cruel prank. The 9-year-old girl told authorities that the incident scared her to the point where she started crying and shaking.

The girl’s parent told deputies that Morrison lived in a tent outside of the Godfrey Street home and he entered their home without permission then threw multiple firecrackers under the girl’s bed early Saturday morning.

He chased Morrison out of the house with a stick and alerted deputies of the disturbing prank. After taking him into custody, authorities searched Morrison and found two grams of methamphetamine in his pocket.

Morrison was charged with child cruelty without great harm, burglary, and possession of a controlled substance.
