Man Arrested After Turning Church Playroom Into Meth Lab

A man from Maine has been arrested for transforming a children’s playroom in a Methodist church into a meth lab.

According to Buxton police said, Matthew Anderson, 33, was arrested after employees at the United Methodist Church called police on Thursday to investigate the “suspicious activity” that was occurring upstairs in their playroom.

Upon investigation, police then alerted thé Maine Drug Enforcement Agency because they found “items that are consistent with the manufacturing process of Methamphetamine. These items where located inside an upstairs designated children’s playroom at the church.”

Police soon identified Matthew as the suspect. He was arrested at a home nearby for an unrelated arrest warrant. After interviewing him about the meth lab, he was charged by Maine Drug Enforcement Agency for Unlawful Operation of a Methamphetamine Lab.

His bail has been set at $50,000 with conditions, however, he was unable to post bail and was sent to the York County Jail in Alfred. He is scheduled to appear in Alfred Superior Court on January 24th, 2020.
