Man Charged After Allegedly Breaking Measles Quarantine To Go To Gym
A Wisconsin husband and wife is being charged after they allegedly broke a quarantine sanction so that they could go to the gym.
The Huffington Post reports that Jeffery Murawski, 57, and his wife Christine Bennett, 58, have been charged with one misdemeanor count of exposing the public to a communicable disease.
Murawski had been required to remain indoors April 26 to May 7, 2018, or until the disease was no longer present. However, he failed to follow those orders as on May 1 he allegedly hid in a car driven by his wife and went to the gym. Unfortunately, for him, he was spotted near the parking lot by an off-duty sheriff’s deputy who was aware of the terms of his quarantine.
He later confessed to the ‘crime’ citing that he broke the order because he was ‘going crazy’ inside the house, where he had been trapped since April 26.
He faces a $500 fine and up to 30 days in prison. At Least his wife was ride or die! A rise in measles cases across the country has triggered a nationwide epidemic.
