Man charged For Making Facebook Threat To Puerto Rican Festival
A 53-year-old Connecticut man is facing charges after he threatened New Haven’s Puerto Rican festival on Facebook.
According to Pix 11, Jeffrey Hanson from Orange will appear in Superior Court on Monday in relation to a threat that he made on Wednesday in response to a television station’s Facebook post about the festival.
The comment was made under the alias of “Jake Wilson,” who claimed to be a “black homosexual.” He said that the festival was an example of why “we need 30 round magazines.”
Fortunately, the event went on as planned without any safety issues and Hanson was arrested for his comments.
The FBI announced that they’re still investigating the matter and more charges may later be brought against him.
“We took this post very seriously. We began immediately to conduct an investigation,” Police Chief Otoniel Reyes said in a press conference.
Authorities have been on high alert since the Dayton and El Paso mass shootings last weekend that left more than 30 people dead.
