A Georgia man ended his own life after firing several rounds inside of a Waycross Walmart early Saturday morning.
First Coast News reports 19-year-old John Jaylen Walker Kinnitt finished his shift at a local Burger King hours before entering the Walmart on 2425 Memorial Dr. and a coworker said he was known as “quiet but sweet” person who was dealing a rough time in his life. Kinnitt walked into the store and started firing multiple shots shortly before 1 a.m. Police responded to reports of an active shooter in the area and arrived at the scene where they quickly located Kinnett.
Seconds after being spotted by officers, the young man turned the gun on himself. EMTs rushed Kinnitt to a local hospital where he later died from his injuries.
The Waycross Police Department said in a statement that no workers or civilians were hurt during the shooting and were evacuated from the store.
“Officers located the shooter within seconds, at which time he turned the handgun on himself, and delivered a self-inflicted gunshot wound,”
