A California man has died after he participated in a taco eating contest during a baseball game.
ABC 30 reports Dana Hutchins,41, died moments after arrival at a hospital on Tuesday night. Before his death, Hutchins was participating in an amateur taco-eating contest during a Fresno Grizzlies baseball game at Chukchansi Park. Moments after the contest, Hutchins received medical attention from emergency medical staff.
The Coroner’s Office said in a statement that a cause of death has yet to be determined.

A statement was released by Grizzlies team president Derek Frank in light of Hutchins’ death:
“We are devastated to learn that the fan that received medical attention following an event at Tuesday evening’s game has passed away. The Fresno Grizzlies extend our heartfelt prayers and condolences to the family of Mr. Hutchings. The safety and security of our fans is our highest priority. We will work closely with local authorities and provide any helpful information that is requested.”

The team has also canceled the World Taco Eating Championship due to the circumstances surrounding Hutchins’ death.
