A man from Dublin, Ireland used his own semen as a remedy to alleviate his lower back pain.
The unidentified man, aged 33, was transported to a local hospital after he developed an infection from injecting the semen into his arm for a year-and-a-half. He explained to the doctor that he developed a rash and swelling in his forearm after he started the unusual body fluid remedy.

Doctors reported from test results that the man’s right arm became infected with cellulitis. Dr.Lisa Dunne said he created the semen remedy without consulting a doctor.
‘He had devised this “cure” independent of any medical advice. He revealed he had injected one monthly “dose” of semen for 18 consecutive months using a hypodermic needle which had been purchased online.’
However, doctors treated the man’s lower back pain and were about to remove the fluid from his right arm but the patient discharged himself from the Adelaide and Meathe Hospital shortly after. Dr.Dunne added that the infection was caused due to the patient improperly using the syringe.
‘The dangers of [injections] when carried out by the untrained layperson are highlighted as well as the vascular and soft tissue hazards surrounding the attempted injection of substances not intended for intravenous use. The case also demonstrates the risks involved with medical experimentation prior to extensive clinical research’.
