A Manhattan man was fatally shot in the head while trying to stop robbers from attacking his friends in Washington Heights.
According to ABC7, Charlie Reynoso,24, was hanging out with a group of friends when three suspects approached them and asked for their money, jewelry, and cellphones around 5 a.m. on West 166 Street. During the scuffle, Reynoso was shot and killed while trying to stop the suspects from robbing his friends. Police reported that the men fled the scene in a black Nissan.
His family is now asking for witnesses to come forward to help with the investigation:
“We are completely devastated. He was fighting for his friends, defending his friends.”
Police also reported that Reynoso sparred with a friend prior to the shooting. His family and friends created a hashtag, #justiceforcharlie, to spread awareness on social media.
A GoFundMe page has been created to help for funeral expenses. The page has raised over $4,000 within the past 24 hours.
