A Florida man was arrested Tuesday evening after he pretended to be a police officer and pulled over an undercover detective.
According to KWQC, Matthew Erris made a routine traffic stop as an “officer” when he pulled over a man in Tampa. The Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office posted on their official Facebook page that Erris had no clue that the man he pulled over was an undercover detective:
“OOPS: When 26-year-old Matthew Joseph Erris decided to play cop, turn on his red and blue lights and pull somebody over, he had no idea the other driver was a REAL undercover HCSO detective!”

Police reported that Erris was driving a vehicle with red and blue lights and stored a pistol under his seat.
“Deputies did a REAL traffic stop on Erris. They found an airsoft pistol under his passenger seat.”
Erris was charged with impersonating a police office and the HCSO said they were unsure about how many times he pretending to be an officer. They added that anyone who has been pulled over by Erris should report it to HSCO officers.
