A man who was wrongfully convicted of a crime and exonerated 12 years later dies from a hit and run.
Sources say that 56-year-old Andrew Mallard has died after being hit by a car while walking to buy cigarets.
A statement from the Los Angeles Police Department said that a hit-and-run occurred around 1:30 a.m. on Thursday when a car traveling east on Sunset Boulevard crashed into a man walking south on Formosa Avenue.
Once authorities arrived, they were able to identify that the man was Millard who died at the scene.
Back in In 1995, Mallard was sentenced to life in prison for the murder of jewelry shop owner Pamela Lawrence, according to CNN.
He was later exonerated and released 12 years later in 2006 as police found our that more evidence pointed towards another man.

Mallard accepted a $3.25 million settlement from the Western Australian government in 2009.
