A Marine veteran’s life was cut short after being killed during a road rage incident in Florida.
According to WFOR-TV, Keith Byrne, 41,( pictured left) was driving a utility vehicle on April 7 when he cut off the driver of a BMW in the Miami suburb of Davie. A friend who was on the phone with Byrne at the time shared with the news channel that Byrne waited for the car to pull up to a stoplight so he could apologize.
However, Andre Sinclair, 22, who was a passenger in the BMW wasn’t looking for an apology. Instead, he reportedly got out of the vehicle and shot Byrne in the chest as he sat in his truck. He fired his gun as his girlfriend and their 19-month-old daughter sat in their vehicle. Byrne then fired back with his own weapon and struck Sinclair twice.
Byrne, father of three, died at the scene and Sinclair was taken to a hospital, where he died two days later. According to the South Florida Sun-Sentinal, both men held concealed-carry permits. However, police said Sinclair would have been judged as the aggressor in the case had he lived. His girlfriend, who claims she tried to restrain him when he pulled out his gun, has not been charged.
Byrne’s family said he is expected to be buried at the South Florida National Cemetery in Lake Worth later this month.
