You cant say “Hot Girl Summer” without thinking about the one and only Megan Thee Stallion, and now she’s making sure of it as she talks about her trademark decision!
It’s no doubt been a “hot girl summer” with Meghan Thee Stallion taking lead as the head hot girl.
If you recall, back in July, there were reports that Megg was filing to trademark her highly used catchphrase “hot girl summer.” Well fast forward to September and we finally know what sparked her decision to do so.
In a recent interview with Allure, Megg shared that the catchy mantra was starting to gain traction in various ways so it only made sense.
“I really didn’t even know that it was gonna catch on how it did. It was just me talking s**t, telling everybody I was gonna be me for the summer, and they should be them too, like as free as they can be. When I saw Wendy’s and Forever 21 saying, “Hey, are you having a Hot Girl Summer?” I was like, “Hell no, Forever 21, you’re going to have to pay me.” But I just wanted to get it trademarked because it’s me. It’s my thing.”
That sure is a good way to make a coin especially if fashion retailers are starting to pick it up. As of now, there is no word on if the trademark paperwork is complete and has been approved. Who knows, we could be seeing things like merch and so much more. But one thing we’re sure of is that we will be hearing “hot girl summer” for a long time!
In fact, it looks like she’s already getting started on the next season as we have already seen her say that this upcoming season will be all about being a “hot nerd fall.”
“Being a hot girl is like a lifestyle, and everyone knows I’m still in college,” Megan said. “It’s gonna be a real hot girl semester, you know what I’m saying? Real Hot Nerd Fall, so I’m just about to start puttin’ on for all my school girls.”
