‘Men In Black’ Actor Rip Torn Dead at 88

Famed actor Rip Torn who’s best known for his roles in HBO’s “The Larry Sanders Show” and the “Men in Black” franchise, has unfortunately passed away.

According to his publicist Rick Miramontez, Torn died Tuesday afternoon at his Lakeville, Connecticut home with his wife, Amy Wright, and daughters Katie Torn and Angelica Page by his side. As of right now, no cause of death has been shared.

Born Elmore Rual Torn Jr. in Temple, Texas, Torn made his film debut in the 1956 film Baby Doll. Torn went on to star in the play Sweet Bird of Youth and the film Pork Chop Hill in 1959, IMDb noted. He gained national recognition for his role in Payday, which he starred in alongside late singer David Bowie. During his career he snagged a number of awards and nominees, including an Academy Award nomination for Best Supporting Actor in 1983’s Cross Creek along with nine Emmy nominations.

Torn, who was married three times, was the father of six children. He will be missed.
