Michael Avenatti Indicted On 36 Financial Crimes Charges
Michael Avenatti has been indicted by a federal grand jury on 36 counts of fraud, perjury, failure to pay taxes, embezzlement among other crimes,
The indictment claims that the infamous lawyer stole millions of dollars from five clients and used numerous fraudulent methods to hide the money.
Avenatti is accused of stealing millions from a mentally ill paraplegic man who is on disability and won a $4M settlement from L.A. County. Avenatti had the money wired to himself and never disclosed that he had it.
He faces up to 335 years in prison if he is convicted. According to TMZ, Avenatti vehemently denies the charges adding that “Any claim that any monies due clients were mishandled is bogus nonsense.”
He says that he will fight all the charges against him and plans to plead not guilty.
“I look forward to the entire truth being known as opposed to a one-sided version meant to sideline me.”
