Michael Cohen Will Publicly Testify About Working For Trump
Donald Trump’s former lawyer will be publicly testifying before the House committee next month detailing his work for Trump.
Cohen’s hearing is scheduled for Feb. 7. The committee chairman Rep. Elijah E. Cummings released a statement thanking Cohen for his cooperation,
“I want to make clear that we have no interest in inappropriately interfering with any ongoing criminal investigations, and to that end, we are in the process of consulting with Special Counsel Mueller’s office,” Cummings said.
“The Committee will announce additional information in the coming weeks.”
As we reported, Cohen pled guilty back in November for lying to Congress in private testimony in 2017 about his involvement and other discrepancies in relation to the Russia investigation. Following his confession, a Manhattan judge sentenced him to three years in federal prison.
The New York Times reports that Cohen said he was prepared “to cooperate and provide the American people with answers.”
“I look forward to having the privilege of being afforded a platform with which to give a full and credible account of the events which have transpired.”
