Miss Michigan was stripped of her title for posting tweets that were considered “racist, Islamophobic and insensitive.”
Yahoo! News reports Kathy Zhu,20, won the 2019 Michigan World America title on Sunday but was stripped of the title when the Miss World American organization discovered her Twitter page. Under the handle @PoliticalKathy, Zhu posted on Thursday of the MWA’s email officially stripping her title:
“Miss World America’s State/National/Chief Director accused me of being racist, Islamaphobic, and insensitive. They stripped me of my Miss Michigan title due to my refusal to try on hijab in 2018, my tweet about black on black gun violence, and “insensitive” statistical tweets.”
She also posted screenshots of text messages exchanged between herself and state director of Miss World America, Laurie DeJack.
The messages read “Do not go out representing Michigan World America. We do have a problem.” DeJack further stated that Zhu’s tweets contained offensive content that goes against the MWA’s policies.
“Your social media accounts contain offensive, insensitive and inappropriate content. Therefore, and effective immediately, MWA does not recognize you as a participant of any sort or in any capacity as it relates to any and all events of MWA.”
Someone called me an islamophobic for not wanting to put on a hijab.
Someone called me a racist because I recognize that black people kill more blacks than police do.
Good luck to those who are as gullible as this.

Zhu has received support from fellow Trump supporters and sympathizers since her political beliefs are very conservative.
“They’re not letting people that represent another side of the story represent them. They only want someone to say things that people want to hear. And there’s a lot of things in this world that it’s hard to hear, but it’s the truth.”
