The search for a missing Birmingham girl has come to a tragic end after her body was found in a garbage bin by a landfill. The three-year-old was reported missing for ten days after she was kidnapped from a birthday party on Oct.12.
According to Fox News, the remains of three-year-old Kamille “Cupcake” McKinney was found in a trash bin by authorities late Tuesday evening, ten days after she was kidnapped from a birthday party at the Tom Brown Housing Village. Birmingham Police Chief Patrick Smith said in a statement that the two suspects, Patrick Devone Stallworth,39, and Derick Irisha Brown, will be charged with kidnapping and murder based on the evidence collected by investigators.
Smith also noted that the suspects had no relationship with Cupcake or her relatives.
Despite Cupcake’s family not making any public pleas to return the toddler prior to her death, her father, Dominic, said he just wanted his daughter back.
“I just want my daughter back. I’ll pay anything, I’ll put up anything. Everybody knows Cupcake, and I’ll do anything to bring that baby back home.”
McKinney’s cause of death has not been released to the public. Gov. Kay Ivey sent his condolences to Cupcake’s family and called the tragedy “a nightmare.”
“I offer profound thanks to law enforcement and to all the volunteers who have worked tirelessly in search of this precious little girl. The heart of our state is broke, but we must do all we can to avoid this happening to another family. Our prayers remain with Kamille’s family and all who have been touched by this nightmare.”
