Mom Killed Daughter To ‘Prevent Her From Having Sex’
A mother who thought her 11-year-old was having sex stabbed her multiple times and ended up killing her.
According to police, Rosa Rivera, 28, stabbed her daughter Aleyda Rivera more than a dozen times Sunday and said it was because the girl smiled “different,” causing her to think her daughter was was sexually active.
After stabbing her, the mother took to Aleyda to Winnie Palmer Hospital, where she was detained by hospital security after wielding a purple-handled pocket knife soaked with blood. Rivera even told cried to first responders, “My baby is gone.” Aleyda had 15 stab wounds to her back and a defensive wound to her right arm, authorities said.
Before Rivera stabbed her daughter, she took the child to a Citadel Drive home where she accused her mother’s boyfriend of having sex with the girl. However, Witnesses told investigators that the girl denied having sex with her mother’s boyfriend and authorities do not believe that the child was sexually abused, New York Post reports.
“These cases are horrific and tragic,” Orange County Sheriff John Mina said during a Monday afternoon press conference. “And then to know that the child was killed by a mother — basically, a mother is the first line of defense to what is sometimes a very cruel world — is very hard on all of us.”
Rivera is currently being held without bail in the Orange County Jail.
