Mossimo Giannulli Lied About Attending USC In The ’80s, Pocketed Tuition From Parents
While details in, his daughter, Olivia Jade‘s post-secondary attendance to USC has become a huge scandal, it seems like the phony bit runs in the family, this as an old interview with Mossimo Giannulli confessing to lying about his own enrollment in the ’80s resurfaces.
As he spoke with The Hundreds back in October 2016, Mossimo admitted he went to USC without actually being enrolled at all. In addition to falsifying report cards, the Mossimo founder sent phony tuition bills to his father, who sent him money, which he then flipped to launch his fashion business.
Additionally, he shares, “SC was expensive, so that was how I was starting my company. I used all that cash. I used to have hundreds of thousands of cash in my top drawer in my fraternity house. And I was like, ‘this is kind of too easy. I need a bigger platform. If I had a bigger account base, I could really kill it…'”
In addition to his own admission, his daughter told the story briefly on the Zach Sang Show. See more below around the 16-minute mark.
