A Pennsylvania mother and her daughter are accused of killing five of their relatives after their bodies were found in their apartment!
Details are still emerging about a mother and daughter, 45-year-old Shana S. Decree and 19-year-old Dominique Decree, who were taken into custody after five of their relatives were found dead in an apartment. The bodies were discovered around 4 pm Monday when police did a welfare check of residents at a unit in the Robert Morris Apartments. Among the deceased were Shana Decree’s children, Naa’Irah Smith, 25, Damon Decree Jr., 13, Shana Decree’s sister Jamilla Campbell, 45, and Campbell’s 9-year-old twin daughters Imani and Erika Allen. Shana and Dominique are charged with five counts of homicide and one count each of conspiracy, per the district attorney’s office.
According to Philly.com, Shana was jailed without bail after a preliminary arraignment Tuesday morning, while her daughter still awaits her hearing. Bucks County District Attorney Matthew Weintraub said the causes of death are being investigated.
“This is a terrible tragedy,” Weintraub said at the scene late Monday night, according to the Associated Press. “I just spoke to the family of all five of the deceased, and we’re all heartbroken.”
“I wish I had better news to report but this is important, so we wanted to come out… and make sure everybody knew that the people that committed these atrocious acts are now in custody and will be made to pay for their crimes,” he said.
Morrisville Police Chief George McClay said there were no obvious signs of trauma among the deceased and fire crews didn’t detect high levels of hazardous materials in the apartment.
