Multiple People Shot And Killed By Gunman At Pittsburgh Synagogue
Early this Saturday morning, authorities responded to a shooting at the Tree of Life synagogue in Pittsburgh.
According to Allegheny County Sheriff’s Deputy Kevin Kraus, several people were shot including three police officers when a gunman entered while Shabbat services were underway as well as a bris ceremony. According to cops, the shooter came with an AR-15 and said,
“All Jews need to die.”
The gunman reportedly barricaded himself on the third floor of the building and exchanged fire with police before surrendering, according to KDKA. Multiple outlets are reporting that 4 people have been confirmed dead but police believe there are a total of 8 fatalities.
The active shooter is currently in custody and Carnegie Mellon University, which is near the temple, is on lockdown.
President Trump tweeted about the incident moments ago saying,
“Watching the events unfolding in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Law enforcement on the scene. People in the Squirrel Hill area should remain sheltered. Looks like multiple fatalities. Beware of an active shooter. God Bless All!”
