Netflix Paid $100M To Keep ‘Friends’ On Platform For Additional Year
So, for everyone that went into an uproar following reports of on-demand streaming service Netflix removing the classic series Friends from its platform, you can all chill now; you’ve got one more year to endlessly stream it.
Additionally, The New York Times reports that the VOD (video-on-demand) service is dishing a whopping $100 million to continue licensing all ten series from WarnerMedia for an additional 365 days.
Furthermore, this is a huge monetary leap from the usual $30 million a year checks the platform previously cut for the show. #Socialites, do you think it’s worth it?
While Netflix and WarnerMedia have yet to comment, this may be quite the necessary move for the former; this as the platform’s base continues to expand, reaching 57 million Us users and 130 million worldwide.
