New Deputy Police Commissioner Of Baltimore Gets Mugged At Gunpoint
Arriving from New Orleans, Louisiana, Deputy Police Commissioner Daniel Murphy received quite the welcome into his new city of Baltimore, Maryland; this as four men mugged he and his wife at gunpoint.
On Friday (July 19), Murphy and his wife were mugged by four men in a white SUV near Patterson Park. The police statement reads the perps fled with multiple cellphones, the officer’s wallet and his wife’s purse, including cash. Fortunately, neither were injured.
While Murphy began his new position in April, called in to help lead sweeping reforms across the city that has seen 185 homicides so far this year, who would’ve thought months later that the deputy commissioner would witness the city’s crime problems firsthand.
As he took on his new gig months prior, Murphy stated, “Obviously, every community, every police department is unique, but the success we had in New Orleans is directly transferable to here and we will modify it as necessary.”
