New York Woman Dies In the Dominican Republic After Having Surgery
A family has been left devastated after a young woman died undergoing cosmetic surgery in the Dominican Republic.
PIX 11 reports that Alexandra Medina, 33 from New Rochelle had saved money to get liposuction in the D.R as it is a lot cheaper than the U.S. The clinic where she died had two other deaths previously.
“She was beautiful and they killed her,” her mother Connie Toro said. “They took away my little girl.”
Medina was worried once she arrived at the clinic, she told her mother that it was dirty and that the surgeon requested payment immediately.
Dr. Felix Almanzar, a plastic surgeon, was due to do the surgery, but, he passed it on to someone else.
“He handed it off to an obstetrician, someone who is not a board certified plastic surgeon,” her sister said.
Her cause of death is labeled as an embolism.
“How am I to believe that that was actually the cause of death and that she stopped breathing. It could be he punctured her lung,” Toro added.
“First it was shock, disbelief, The it was crying continuous, then it was becoming sporadic and now it’s anger,” she said. “I’m going to hold onto this until they get these people.”
Her mother has been in touch with the police to investigate, the FBI is also involved.
“I want my daughter’s monsters to pay because they lured her in.”
