Nickelodeon announced they are revamping some of their hit shows and the list includes “All That”!
Nostalgia is the name of the game as Nickelodeon recently announced brand new remake’s of their shows “All That”, “Are You Afraid of the Dark?”, a “SpongeBob” spinoff, and a new version of “Are You Smarter Than a 5th Grader” hosted by John Cena! The new “All That” will be a weekly sketch comedy series introducing a new cast and some original cast members. A regular from the show and SNL cast member, Kenan Thompson, is set to executive produce the show with Kevin Kay. The original series was comprised of Lori Beth Denberg, Nick Cannon, Jamie Spears, Kel Mitchell, Danny Tamberelli, Josh Server and more. It will premiere this summer.
Just in time for Halloween, the “Are You Afraid of the Dark?” remake will premiere in October as a miniseries with a new cast. Centering around a group of teens sharing scary stories in the woods at night, the show ran from 1990 to 1996 and was revived in 1999 for one year.
“We have a laser focus on who kids are today, and what they want, so we are making a wider variety of shows and series for them, and we’re working with brand-new kinds of talent and producers,” Nickelodeon’s president Brian Robbins said in a statement. “We have a new creative team in place and a renewed energy that we’re harnessing to bring the buzz back to Nick.”
John Cena is coming on to host and executive produce the “Are You Smarter Than A 5th Grader?” remake. Viewers will watch adult contestants be tested on their knowledge against elementary school children. Let’s see how Nickelodeon pulls this all off!
