Ever since Migos dropped their ‘Culture II‘ first-look track “Motor Sport,” featuring Nicki Minaj and Cardi B, social media’s been having fun coming up with theories on how the collaboration came to fruition; even going as far as to theorize that the two New York femcees were dissing each other on the same track.
While Cardi simply stated that the Atlanta trio asked her to join, Nicki checked all of the instigators on Twitter Tuesday night (Oct. 31) explaining:
“I was on the song w/Quavo. No one else was on it. He called & asked if I think we should put Bardi on it, I said ‘ok let’s do it’. The end.”
Additionally, the Harajuku Barbie continues to make it crystal clear, claiming:
“Migos weren’t even on it yet. Just Quavo. The conspiracy theories r just so tired. Relax. Breathe. Imagine me not knowing who on a song w/me. Anything w/my name on it gets approved by me. It can’t even go on a streaming service w/o me hearing it & giving written approval. These are men in our culture who simply refuse to let it go. They don’t do this to male M.C.’s. But yo #Motorsport #1 added on urban radio “
Furthermore, Nicki’s tweets followed Monday’s episode of Complex News‘ Everyday Struggle, where Joe Budden claimed the Queens rapper jumped on the track without knowledge of Cardi’s feature.
Additionally, Budden theorized:
“I think that Kanye [West] suggested to Migos to put Nicki on this song. I do not think that Migos or anybody stepped to Nicki and said, ‘We have a record featuring Migos and Cardi and we would like you to get on it.’ I don’t think that happened.”
Also, the New Jersey rapper went on to suggest that Cardi used her verse to diss Nicki, expaling:
“When I heard the song for the first time and the Cardi verse came on, you know what my thought process was? I said, ‘Wow. Different flow.’ This flow is different from what I’ve ever, ever, ever heard from Cardi.”
