Nipsey Hussle’s Sister Wins Custody of His Daughter
On Monday (May 20), Nipsey Hussle’s siblings appeared in court for a custody hearing with Tanisha Foster, the biological mother of Nipsey’s daughter Emani Asghedom. Hussle’s sister Samantha Smith, who had been fighting to get custody of his 10-year-old after the rapper’s death, finally was granted custody of the child.
Samantha’s emergency request was previously denied but during court, she argued that Foster is unfit to care for her daughter. Prior to her brother’s death, Smith had been assisting in caring for Emani and wanted “to ensure the continued stability for Emani and ensure that she will be able to maintain her current and ongoing relationship” with the rapper’s family.
Also what didn’t help Foster was that a
warrant was recently issued for her arrest after she missed a court appearance over a 2017 DUI case. She also reportedly has a prior criminal record for arrests in 2006 and 2007. Foster was visibly upset about the decision as she left the courthouse. She told TMZ’s cameraman “I’m pissed off.”
As of right now, Foster’s lawyer, Larry Lewellyn, says he is working with Nipsey’s family on a visitation schedule that will be in Emani’s best interest.
