An ex Georgia police officer who fatally shot an unarmed, naked black man has been found not guilty of murder today.

However, Jurors did find Robert “Chip” Olsen guilty of aggravated assault, violation of oath of office and making a false statement.

His sentencing is scheduled for November 1 and a decision on whether he will get bail has not yet been decided.

Olsen, 57, was a DeKalb County police officer in March 2015 when he responded to a call of a naked man outside an Atlanta apartment complex.

When Olsen arrived, he fatally shot 26-year-old Anthony Hill, who was an Air Force veteran who had been diagnosed with bipolar disorder and Post- Traumatic Stress Disorder. The jury had to decide whether Olsen had valid reasoning to fear for his life.

Hill’s mom wiped away tears as Olsen was found not guilty of murdering her son.
