A group of parents is asking for the immediate firing of a preschool teacher after she was recorded on video waking up a sleeping child with her foot.
According to WDSU, the teacher works at the Crocker College Prep preschool in New Orleans and officials said they have investigated the video in 2019. The video was recorded by the school’s former teacher Dominique Briotte and it shows the unnamed teacher waking up a sleeping child with her foot. Birotte said she worked alongside the teacher and that this was not the first time she did this.
“The first couple of times, I stopped her and corrected. She was basically taken aback by the fact that I would even suggest, from myself, to tell her anything and just refused to listen to me.”

Birotte added that the teacher would often yell at the children for no reason and grabbed one of them aggressively.
“She’d yell at them for no reason; you could tell when she was in a bad mood. One time, she grabbed a kid so hard, she hit his head on a desk on a table.”
Although the matter has been reported to school officials, nothing has been done to resolve the matter.
A statement was released by CEO Kevin Ward who said the parent of the child in the video has been notified of the incident.
“We are aware that a former employee has shared a dated video of student-teacher interactions.
“While we do not in any way condone the actions on the video, we want to assure our families that all involved parties were counseled and proper disciplinary actions were handled in accordance with NOCP’s policies and procedures as soon as the information was presented to us.
“The parent of the child in the video was notified and had an opportunity to view the video. The individual who we believe to be responsible for the video is no longer an employee of New Orleans College Prep.
“Please note that the video was posted by the former employee after separation regarding circumstances unrelated to the video. It is our goal to provide our students with high quality care and services at all times which is why we addressed the situation as soon as we were made aware. While the actions shown in this 2019 video do not reflect who we are, neither do those of the individual who decided to secretly record the video and failed to make us aware of the video for several weeks. We seek to build a collaborative environment where we hold all adults accountable for the safety and care of our children.”
