The Patriots have declined to pay Antonio Brown $5 million, which is the first installment of his signing bonus.
According to Pro Football Talk, his initial contract stated that the money was supposed to be paid on Monday.
The Patriots officially released Brown on Friday, their argument is that Brown did not inform the team of his pending civil lawsuit or sexual assault allegations before he signed with them.
Brown will most likely file a grievance to collect his $9 million, along with the balance of his $1 million guaranteed salary. As of now, his minimum salary from the Patriots will be $283,333.
As we reported Brown was released from the Patriots after multiple sexual assault accusations. The NFL is currently investigating the allegations of sexual misconduct against Brown, including a civil lawsuit in which Brown’s former personal trainer accuses him of sexual assault and rape. Brown has maintained that he is innocent and claims the women accusing him are just trying to extort him.
