A pregnant woman was stabbed to death in her Queens apartment early Sunday morning.
Jennifer Irigoyen was found with her body covered in wounds in the entranceway of her apartment building around 1 a.m. Sunday. She was taken to Wyckoff Hospital where she later died at 2:30 a.m. The New York-native was five months pregnant.
There was a gruesome scene of blood covering the steps at the building entrance and blood smeared on the walls. There was also a pair of black slip-on shoes drenched in blood on the floor.
“There’s blood all over,” said a woman named Kristin, who told The Post she lives a couple of doors down from Irigoyen. “I’m really shaken up, I’m really scared.
Kristin recalled hearing the victim and a man arguing loudly and the woman “yelling something about her baby, about wanting to protect her baby.”
“I heard screams. And then a man yelling, and her yelling.”
Police and now on the hunt for a man who was seen fleeing the scene of the crime, sources said. The man, who could have left bloody boot prints leading out of the building, is believed to be Irigoyen’s boyfriend, per police sources. The 35-year-old was described as a “very friendly, sweet woman” and she lived alone, per her super. According to her bio on the Crosstown Real Estate website, she was a licensed real estate agent who specialized in luxury homes in Queens. She apparently had a very active lifestyle as she was a classicly-trained pianist, a professional Latin ballroom dancer, instructor, and taught Spinning and Zumba.
Family members seemed to quickly find out about her tragic death because a man ran up to the scene Sunday yelling, “That’s my cousin!” and was dragged away by cops.
