According to reports, Obama expressed that all the women who have come out publicly should be celebrated and that more women should speak out to teach young boys and men on how to treat women with decency.

“We should celebrate the courage of women who have come forward to tell these painful stories. And we all need to build a culture — including by empowering our girls and teaching our boys decency and respect — so we can make such behavior less prevalent in the future.”

Furthermore, he also stated that no man’s wealth or status gives him a pass to treat women in a degrading manner.

“Michelle and I have been disgusted by the recent reports about Harvey Weinstein. Any man who demeans and degrades women in such a fashion needs to be condemned and held accountable, regardless of wealth or status.”

Although Obama did not bring it up in his statement if you recall, Malia Obama, 19, landed an internship at the Weinstein Company right after her dad left office earlier this year. Malia worked in the production/development department, tasked with ‘reading through scripts and deciding which ones move on to Weinstein brass.

The former first family was blasted earlier this week for not coming out to talk about their daughters’ involvement with the company. However, many celebrities came to their defense including Gayle King.
