President Trump went on a Twitter rant late Friday night and attacks BuzzFeed on their reporting about Michael Cohen and Trump’s real estate deals with the Russian government.
Trump slammed Buzzfeed in a series of tweets last night and called their reporting a “very sad day for journalism” and stated that the media outlet reported fake news that was paid for by Hilary Clinton and the Democrats.
“Remember it was Buzzfeed that released the totally discredited ‘Dossier,’ paid for by Crooked Hillary Clinton and the Democrats (as opposition research), on which the entire Russian probe is based!”
The rant comes after BuzzFeed published their reporting on Thursday about Michael Cohen’s alleged role in lying to Congress about plans of building a Trump Tower in Moscow. President Trump vehemently denied that he had any business plans or deals with the Russian government.
Prior to Trump’s Twitter rant, Robert Muller’s office released a statement early Friday denying BuzzFeed’s reporting and findings.
“BuzzFeed’s description of specific statements to the Special Counsel’s Office, and characterization of documents and testimony obtained by this office, regarding Michael Cohen’s Congressional testimony are not accurate,”
Editor-In-Chief Ben Smith later wrote in a statement that the media company is standing by their reports and the sources used in the article.
