R. Kelly Denied Bail in Federal Sex Crimes Case

R. Kelly is going to have to find a comfortable spot in the slammer because he’s not getting out anytime soon. According to the latest update regarding his case, a judge has ordered the singer to remain behind bars.

Kelly appeared for his court hearing Tuesday where he ultimately pled not guilty. He was denied bond because prosecutors believe “he’s a danger to the community, especially to minor girls.” They also believe that there’s a risk of obstruction due to his fame and power. Prosecutors say he has the “unique ability to influence and intimidate witnesses and victims, and that continues to this day.” They added, “It’s who the defendant is,” after alleging that he’s sexually assaulted the alleged victims over hundred times, TMZ reports.

That wasn’t all. They’re claiming that electronic monitor and home confinement wouldn’t be enough for Kelly as he can “entice girls to his own doorstep.” R. Kelly’s lawyer, Steve Greenberg, quickly fired back saying his client is absolutely not a flight risk.

While he’ll remain locked up, Kelly‘s girlfriends will be out supporting and defending him. Joycelyn Savage and Azriel Clary will be addressing the media following the court’s decision along with their attorney, Gloria Schmidt, according to TMZ.
