According to TMZ, Sony Music records has decided to end their relationship with the disgraced singer. Sources close to the R&B singer told TMZ that both sides agreed on a split this week. No further details were shared.

Can’t say we didn’t see this coming. R. Kelly has been with Sony for years, even during the early days of his career. He has also been under contract with its subsidiary label, RCA, since 2012. The end of their relationship comes amid the storm of controversy after the docuseries, “Surviving R. Kelly.”

Activists and protesters even gathered in front of Sony Music’s Manhattan offices demanding that the company drop him from the label. While Sony wasted no time going against Kelly, RCA has yet to make the same move. However, they did decide to halt releasing new music following all the backlash.

R. Kelly said he’s planning to sue Lifetime for airing the docu-series and everyone who was involved with it. Now, it looks like he’s going to be making some adjustments to his suit.
