R. Kelly’s Daughter is speaking out about her father’s allegations calling him a “monster” for his actions.
It’s been a week since the Lifetime documentary “Surviving R. Kelly” hit our screens. Except for Kelly’s ex-wife Andrea Lee Kelly and his two brothers speaking out in the film, none of his other family members have spoken out until now!
Kelly’s daughter Joann Lee Kelly, aka Buku Abi shared a long message to her social media followers letting them know how this entire ordeal has impacted her.
She addresses the lateness in her statement saying that she was struggling to
“gather all the right words to express everything I feel.”
She does, however, express that the allegations have affected her in a major way.
“I just want you all to understand that devastated is an understatement for all that I feel currently,” she wrote. “I do apologize if my silence to all that is happening comes off as careless. That is my last intention. I pray for all the families & women who have been affected by my father’s actions. Trust, I have been deeply affected by all of this. It has been very difficult to process it all. Let alone gather all the right words to express everything I feel.”
Joann says that she, her siblings and her mother have not talked to the singer in years.
While she didn’t state any specifics on the case, Joann does say that she does no “condone, support ANYTHING negative [Kelly] has done and or continues to do in his life” even going on to call him a “monster.
“The same monster you all confronting me about is my father,” she adds.
“I am well aware of who and what he is. I grew up in that house. My choice to not speak on him and what he does is for my peace of mind. My emotional state. And for my healing. I have to do and move in a manner that is best for me. I pray anyone who reads this understands I put nothing but good intent behind each word.”
