R. Kelly’s Sony Music Royalties Seized By Chicago Landlord To Pay Off Debt
R. Kelly is not off the hook yet when it comes to some of his other debts.
Despite Sony dropping Kelly, his old music continues to bring in money and his former landlord seems to know about this and went to collect the back rent the singer owed him.
According to The Blast, court documents show that Kelly’s former landlord, Midwest Commercial Funding sent a subpoena to Sony Music Holdings, Inc and was able to freeze $264,535 in Kelly’s royalties.
The disgraced singer owed 173,855.08 to Midwest on a judgement awarded after he failed to make payments for his Chicago music studio.
Midwest already took $154, 527.22 from one of Kelly’s Bank of America accounts from a “turnover order.” They were left needing $52,431.55 from the Sony account to pay off the balance and part ways with Kelly!
As we reported, Sony ended it’s relationship with R. Kelly after the damning documentary “Surviving R. Kelly” aired! The singer has been in a lot of debt since, paying off bail and child support that he has owed.
