Reality TV Stars Todd & Julie Chrisley Turn Themselves In On Tax Evasion Charges

On Tuesday, “Chrisley Knows Best” reality stars Todd and Julie Chrisley were indicted by a federal grand jury on multiple counts of conspiracy, bank fraud, wire fraud, and tax evasion. The couple’s accountant, Peter Tarantino, was also indicted on tax-related offenses.

In a statement, U.S. Attorney Byung J. “BJay” Pak. explained that “Todd and Julie Chrisley are charged not only with defrauding a number of banks by fraudulently obtaining millions of dollars in loans, but also with allegedly cheating taxpayers by actively evading paying federal taxes on the money they earned.”

Prosecutors said that from at least 2007 through 2012, the reality stars conspired to defraud banks by providing them with false information, and fabricated bank statements when applying for and receiving millions of dollars in loans. The 12-count indictment also alleges that the couple used Chrisley’s production company to hide their reality TV income from the IRS. 

The couple has deny any wrongdoing. However, they decided to turn themselves in Wednesday morning, according to WSBTV reporter Nicole Carr. She tweeted out,

“Todd and Julie Chrisley have turned themselves into the FBI. They came to Atlanta to turn in this morning. Will appear in federal court today for first appearance.”

The couple are facing up to 30 years in prison if convicted. More details are expected to be shared following their court appearance. We will continue to keep you updated.
