Rose McGowan Indicted On Cocaine Charges
According to multiple reports, Rose McGowan was indicted by a grand jury on Monday for a January 2017 cocaine possession charge. The actress strongly believes that Harvey Weinstein may have been responsible for a frame job.
McGowan’s lawyer, Jose Baez, told Fox News in a statement: “Rose steadfastly maintains her innocence. These charges would have never been brought if it weren’t for her activism as a voice for women everywhere. I assure you, this selective prosecution will be met with a strong defense.”
Back in January, the 44-year-old was accused of possessing cocaine, which was allegedly found in a wallet by airline staff, according to the NY Post. McGowan has argued that the cocaine found wasn’t hers, suggesting in court papers that the drugs were planted there by movie producer Harvey Weinstein. However, if convicted the actress could face up to a year.
McGowan was among the first to accuse Weinstein of sexual assault, and she and others say he’s tried his hardest to discredit his accusers. Weinstein has denied all accusations. McGowan’s trial date will be set Tuesday.
