Sacramento Agrees To Give Stephon Clark’s Children $2.4 Million
Stephon Clark was murdered after being shot seven times by police on March 18, 2018, in his grandparents’ backyard.
Over a year later the city of Sacramento has agreed to pay his two young sons the sum of $2.4 Million.
As we reported, Clark was Killed after two Sacramento officers shot him while responding to a report that a man had broken car windows and was hiding in a backyard. Police said Clark was pointing a gun at them, however, it turned out to be a cellphone. The officer’s were not charged which led to protests across the state.
The money will be put into a trust for Clark’s sons, who are now 5 and 2 years old. They will gain access to it tax-free when they turn 22. Some of the money will also go to their lawyers.
According to the Sac Bee, Clark’s parents and grandparents have also sued the city, but, the documents note that “the other plaintiffs to the case have not settled their claims…”
