Police in Georgia who were looking for a serial rapist found the suspect after he decided to join the police department.

Kenneth Thomas Bowen III, 24, was finally arrested  when he joined Clayton County Police Department’s academy in 2018. He was actually kicked out due to being late multiple times and lying.

Police realized that Bowen was a person of interest after eight sexual attacks in Jonesboro since 2015.

The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports that officers began to notice the “striking resemblance” between Bowen’s photo and multiple police  sketches.

Bowen’s tattoos were also a match to those given in multiple victims’ descriptions. Police quickly got a warrant and obtained his DNA. It was a match to all eight victims.

“Had he not attempted to join ranks in the Clayton County Police Department, it is questionable as to when we would have apprehended him,” Clayton County Police Chief Kevin Roberts said.

Bowen has been charged with seven counts of rape and one count of sexual battery.
