Shawne Merriman Filed For Bankruptcy Prior To Wrongful Death Lawsuit
Former NFL player Shawne Merriman filed for chapter 13 bankruptcy prior to receiving a wrongful death lawsuit for his alleged involvement in the death of a playboy model.
According to The Blast, court documents show that Merriman filed for bankruptcy in November 2018.
The documents show that he listed $477,600 in assets and $787,177.05 in liabilities. He also included some land taht he owns in San Diego that is worth $450,000, a 2015 Mercedes GLK, $5k in clothes, $5k in personal items, $2,500 in savings and $15k worth of household items.
He has $575k in mortgages and IRS back taxes amounting to $46k. He has an additional $42k in legal bills and $3k in medical bill collections.
He claims that his average monthly income is $9,997.13 with expenses of $9,007.51. He wants his debts to be wiped clean.
As we reported, Shawne is being sued by the parents of 30-year-old Kimberly Fattorini who overdosed on July 21, 2017, at a private party in Hollywood.
Fattorini who worked for Playboy was found unresponsive and the coroner ruled her cause of death to be from an overdose of alcohol, cocaine, and GHB. Merriman was allegedly responsible for pouring the drug in her drink.
