Spike Lee, T.I. And Soulja Boy Call For Boycott Against Gucci and Prada Following Blackface Controversy.


Celebs are chiming in and asking the black community to boycott Gucci following their blackface design. 

On Thursday, we reported that Hucci was catching major fire for releasing a turtleneck that featured a piece that came over the mouth with a cut out of red lips. The image depicts red that of blackface and has since been removed from their stores, websites and inventory. 

Prada was also involved in a tone-deaf design after they released a purse accessory that featured a monkey with oversized bright red lips.

Oscar-nominated director Spike Lee. who has been seen in Gucci and Prada various times released a statement on his social media saying;

“I, Spike Lee Of Sound Mind And Body Will No Longer Wear Prada Or Gucci Until They Hire Some Black Designers To Be In Da Room When It Happens,” Lee wrote on Instagram.

“It’s Obvious To Da Peoples That They Don’t Have A Clue When It Comes To Racist, Blackface Hateful Imagery. WAKE UP. Ya-Dig?”

Atlanta rapper T.I. also took to his Instagram to share his thoughts about the whole design as well as sent a call to action for Gucci and other brands who are missing the mark.

Rapper Soulja Boy who recently did a variety of interviews rocking a Gucci headband took to his Instagram to share his disappointment being that he spends so much money on their products.

“Gucci is canceled.” The rapper continued: “I’m shocked and I’m appalled and I feel disrespected. I supported Y’all brand. I spent hundreds of thousands of dollars and Y’all came up with a shirt with blackface on it.”

Gucci did release a statement giving an apology, however, celebs and the fashion community say that their apology is not enough, more needs to happen.
