Student Gets Engaged To Her 71-Year-Old Former Professor
A Princeton University student has gotten engaged to her 71-year-old former professor.
The NY Post reports that Cameron Platt, 25, attended the Ivy League university where she was studying for her master’s degree at the University of Oxford. The student recently revealed that was engaged to Professor Lee Clark Mitchell, who will turn 72 in June.
Platt revealed that she met her fiance when she took one of his classes during her sophomore year. Despite what people think, Platt is madly in love with her professor.
“I was taking his lecture course on Henry James and William Faulkner. Lee was little more than a stranger to me then, but he captivated me with his brilliance, sensitivity, and passion,” Platt wrote on Facebook. “His lectures changed forever the way that I think.”
“I was surprised to find how much I still thought of Lee — and soon I understood that I felt something for him that I’m not fully acknowledged before,” Platt added.
“At the end of my two years in Oxford, after much reflection, and with encouragement from my wonderful friends, I resolved to shoot my shot.”
The pair then went on 7-months worth of dates before getting engaged. The school said that they did not believe it was appropriate to comment on personal relationships outside of the college.
