Substitute Teacher Arrested For Assaulting High School Student On Video

A Texas substitute teacher is charged with a felony after cellphone footage captured her allegedly assaulting a high school student in a classroom.

According to CBS DFW, 32-year-old Tiffani Shadell Lankford was arrested Friday afternoon after she allegedly assaulted a Lehman High School student in Kyle. The physical altercation took place during a foreign language class. The Hays County Sheriff’s Office charger Lankford with second-degree felony aggravated assault.

Cellphone footage of the fight was uploaded on another student’s Snapchat account and witnesses reported on Twitter that the 15-year-old attempted to hit Lankford when she took her cellphone.

Lankford started with the Hays County School District on Aug.30 after she took her orientation for training.

Lehman High School Principal Karen Zuniga said in a statement that the situation was handled with “swift action.”

“Under no circumstance is that behavior tolerated at Lehman High School or in Hays CISD. We take the safety and security of our students seriously. We took swift action when this incident occurred and will do everything necessary to protect our students.”
