A Queens driver was miraculously unharmed after a piece of a train track from an outdoor No.7 train platform fell through his windshield.
According to PIX 11, the ‘Final Destination’-like freak incident occurred late Wednesday afternoon around 65th Street in Woodside. The MTA says the piece most likely came from a worker platform that was installed years prior to the incident. However, Councilman Jimmy Van Bramer says the MTA is responsible for ensuring safety among passengers and workers.
“These photos are horrifying. Thankfully the driver was not injured, but someone could have been killed! There must be an immediate investigation into how something this dangerous could happen. @MTA must answer for our crumbling subway infrastructure before a tragedy occurs.”

MTA representative Shams Tarek says they are looking into the issue:
“We take this incident extremely seriously, are conducting a full investigation into what happened, have personnel ensuring the rest of the area is safe, and are relieved that no one was injured,”

The platform was thoroughly inspected by MTA officials and other platforms along the No.7 line are currently being checked by workers.
